You might face so many interview questions for business analyst stakeholder management interview questions. The stakeholders are nothing but the people or group of people who are impacting by the change in product or business. The business analyst is the person who is responsible for stakeholder management and it is bridge between business and technical people. In this article we will focus on stakeholder management interview questions for business analysis.
In this section We will focus on multiple stakeholder management interview questions. The interview questions are important for all the business analyst or project managers who are responsible to manage the stakeholders. These are top interview questions which may be asked in interview .
Case : Amit is business analyst working with the client which running the Logistics solution data for One of the postal client.
Question 1 : What is mean by Stakeholder? ( 100% asked stakeholder management interview questions)
Answer :
Stakeholders are nothing but the people or set of people who will be impacted by the change. The stakeholders are nothing but the people who are impacting by the change in product and project.
Example : For multiple projects there might be multiple group of stakeholders. If we can consider the above case study the stakeholders will be the Business Solution Manager,Service manager and other group of people.
Question 2 : What are two categories of stakeholders? Give an example.
Answer :
There are always two categories of stakeholders :
Example :
The operations manager,Users of product, In our case the business solution manager and service managers are the stakeholders who receives the benefit.
2. The stakeholders who deliver the change : The stakeholders or group of people who is responsible to make or deliver the change in project or process.
Question 3 : Who are multiple stakeholders with whom you worked with?
Answer :

Question 5 : How do you identify your stakeholders?
Answer :
As a logistics solutions areas when i joined the project I used following methods to identify stakeholders
Question 6 : What will happen if you miss any key stakeholder?
Answer :
The missing of any important stakeholder may cause directly impacted to delivery of the project. If we miss key stakeholder and functionality for that stakeholder it will cause the delay and substantial rework needs to be done at delivery end. It may impact the budget of the program.
Example :
We have faced similar situation in my historical project where we have missed operational team who is responsible to engage the customers or users of the product directly. We need to do rework on operations window again.
Question 7 : What is RACI matrix?
Answer :
The RACI matrix is nothing but :
R is for Responsible
A is for Accountable
C is Consulted
I is for Informed
As an example , Business analyst is person who will be gathering and documenting the requirement. He is responsible for stakeholder management.
Project manager is accountable for timely delievery of the project.
Consulted is the group of stakeholders who needs to get consulted
The leads and tech architects needs to be Informed what is happening in the project.
Question 8 : What is Stakeholder matrix?
Answer :
The matrix which needs to be used for stakeholder management. This is nothing but list of stakeholders with the contact details and impact,influence in project,
As example :
Amit is Owner of the project and sponsor of project so he has high impact of project and he has also high influence.
Rohit is operations manager also he and his team has high impact but influence is low.
Sales manager has low impact and low influence on project.
Question 9 : What will you do if you encounter two stakeholders with different opinions, how will you solve their conflict?
Answer :
This is most common situation that might happen in every project. The most common conflict is between dev team and test team which most of us has handled. But in Business analysis situation there might be conflict between prioritizing the tasks as well.
In this situation we require to listen opinion of both parties and need to understand the situation properly. We require to give the diplomatic solutions so both the parties will be happy.
Example :
In our project the logistics service manager wants the dashboard to be scheduled on daily basis but the senior manager logistics wants it on weekly basis. We have resolved the issue by scheduling daily reports to logistics manager and sending intimation to Senior manager logistics on weekly basis.
Question 10 : Tell me about the time when you have managed difficult stakeholder?
Answer :
We have faced so many situations where we have managed difficult stakeholders. There are always two type of stakeholders , Conflicting stakeholders who does not wants things to go fast and they just check all security related issues or performance related issues. The other type is the stakeholders who does not want the change. For these kind of situations we require to schedule the meetings separately with those stakeholders and need to resolve issue.
Unavailability of stakeholder : This is also most common scenario where the stakeholders are not available to support on time or they are busy. In this situation we require to check their calendars , inform to stakeholders supervisor and need to handle situation accordingly.
